June Review & July Goals 2018

Well, it really was a case of flaming June this year – it’s been so hot! Not that I’m complaining of course, I love the warm weather and the sunshine gives my soul a lift.

June has been a great month for me. I started off with my final appointment in the training clinic and got good feedback for that. It was a very big month college wise. I submitted my final assignment in early June and then came the dreaded viva. I don’t think I’d felt as nervous about anything since my driving test, but I prepared thoroughly and got some really good feedback from my tutors on the day. And with that, I’m finished! I passed my final assignment, so now I just have to wait for the exam board to reconvene and confirm that I’m passed and allowed to practice, which should happen in mid-July.

It’s a strange feeling to be finished, it’s been a tough three years and very intense, but in some ways it’s gone really quickly. I don’t quite feel able to relax as I’m putting in place all the bits and pieces to launch my business straight away. That’s making progress though, and I’m realistic that it could potentially be a slow start over holiday season. For the past few days, I’ve been enjoying having an evening, watching the World Cup and trying to get rid of the adrenaline that has been fuelling me for the past few weeks!

There have been some other good things in June. In the middle of the month we met family and friends for a day of fun at a festival in the New Forest. I’ve enjoyed a relaxing day at the spa and a night out with friends, which was a lovely catch up.

My health has been pretty good this month, although fitting in exercise has been a struggle, partly because of the college workload, the ensuing low energy levels and the heat hasn’t been conducive to much in the way of cardio either!   I’ve been feeling a bit demotivated with my strength training recently and I’d like to shake things up for the rest of the year – more on that to follow.

One of my constant challenges is time, and I’m not doing myself any favours by filling up all my weekends! Joking aside, we are going to Berlin next week to catch up with friends who have moved there, and I’m really looking forward to seeing them and having a family adventure. The rest of the month is a bit quieter which is good. I’m itching to get myself organised and do some house stuff in July!

In addition to all of that, it’s end of term coming round, another school year over. A few days after that we’re off to France for a couple of weeks, which will be a lovely break and hopefully a chance to take some time away from everything a reassess. I always come back from holidays full of enthusiasm and bursting to get going on stuff. It will also be our 19th wedding anniversary at the end of the month, no small achievement.

Goals for July are:

  • To get the basics in place to launch my business
  • Do a proper review of my annual goals and readjust as necessary for the next six months
  • Decide what I want to do exercise wise and put the plan in place
