May Review & June Goals 2018

Just a quick update for you this month – there is lots going on, but it’s Friday evening, I’ve had a busy day with plenty of it spent in front of the PC, and a chilled glass of white wine is calling me….#balance 🙂

May started with a scorching bank holiday weekend and Daisy and my dance show. That went well and was a fun (if long!) day with two performances this year. Haven’t received the DVD yet, but I reserve the right to withdraw my went well comment when I’ve seen it back…

Plenty has happened on the college front, not least that I attended my last ever weekend of lectures. This is not to say that I won’t ever study again (nutrition is definitely a life-long learning subject!), but the teaching part of my nutritional therapy training is now over. I had my final client appointment this afternoon too, so the training clinic is also complete. That just leaves one assignment, which I’m making good headway on, and the dreaded viva on the 23rd June which I’ll hopefully start preparing for next week.

The business plan went in a couple of weeks ago, so I’m awaiting some feedback on that, but it certainly helped me order my thoughts a bit more in terms of what I’m going to need to get done in order to be up and running as soon as I can after I qualify. My website build is underway, and I’m getting the practicalities in place. Then it’s just (!) a question of finding some clients!

We ended the month with our half term break and another trip down to Weymouth. The weather was glorious over the bank holiday weekend, and the girls managed a swim in the sea (rather them than me at this time of year!). We had a couple more overcast days, but still managed a coastal walk and a sneaky trip to the cinema to see Solo.

Exercise was pretty consistent in May and I’ve decided to go for a half marathon in September which will give me a goal to focus on. Just need to get round to actually entering it! A few random good things happened in May too, including winning a voucher for Lorna Jane (a fitness clothing brand I really like) in a competition on Instagram and getting a refund from the taxman which is always a bonus.

Unsurprisingly, the big focus for June will be about getting through the last couple of college tasks. I’ve really enjoyed it, but I’ll be glad when it’s finished and I can put it into practice in the real world and hopefully make some money! I’ll be keeping the business tasks ticking over for the next couple of weeks, and use the last week of June to really focus on anything outstanding, aiming for a mid-July launch once I get the confirmation I’ve passed and have qualified to practice.

I need to keep a balance though, and there are plenty of fun things to look forward to. I’ve got three nights out with friends planned and in mid-June we are heading down to the New Forest for the Smoked and Uncut festival at the Pig Hotel which should be fun. We had a great time last year despite torrential rain all day, so it’ll be even better even if it’s just showers! I’ve also booked into the spa for a day, I haven’t managed to fit in a single one of my membership visits this year and I feel like I’ll need a day of R&R after getting the college stuff out of the way.
